Okay, here's the story. I live in AZ, I was traveling to TN and my truck broke down in TX. Once the truck was repaired i started the arduous process of finding a good auto transport company. I scoured the forums and had a hard time independently finding a carrier that would take the TX to TN route. Both carriers recommended 1Flat Rate.
When I called I talked with Ray McGlinchey the owner/dispatcher. He answered all my questions, apparently he has been doing this for a long time. Ray wanted no money up front- i just paid the courier when my vehicle arrived. That is a sign of a true professional. Ray took my reservation and called me back promptly with my options for carriers and prices. He explained what was considered good pricing and time for delivery.
I placed my reservation on a Thursday for my truck- a 2002 Landrover Discovery. The cost had 2 options: $650 for delivery within 9 days or $750 for expedited delivery within 4 days. I chose Expedited delivery and the truck was picked up in San Antonio Texas on the following Monday. It was delivered to Kingsport TN on Friday. It was supposed to be there earlier(Thursday) but the carrier- Cowboy transport- has brake problems and needed an extra day for repairs. The truck arrived dirty, but I believe that was from sitting out in a garage lot for 8 weeks, not the transporting of the vehicle. When Cowboy carriers dropped the truck off at my hotel, they gave me a receipt that resembled an Enterprise rent a car receipt. They were very nice and professional as well.
Ray , again, very professional. If I ever need to transport another vehicle - I am definitely using 1Flat Rate...more specifically wherever Ray is working.
