As the result of some family issues, my mother had to fly out from Pennsylvania to California to assist me in a fairly quick timeframe. I had no idea about the business of auto transporting, but needed to get my mother's car transported. I went on the Internet to see if Amtrack had a service by which I could get my mother's car shipped. I put in some key words for the search and got a lot of hits on auto transporters--but not Amtrak. Instead of going through the list blindly, I went to the MovingRoo.com website that was listed, since they offered to see that I was provided quotes from several reputable auto transporters. [By the way, the service from MovingRoo was also excellent--they not only provided several quality referrals, but were able to provide me follow-up information I needed on the companies they had referred me to.] AFT Logistics ("AFTL") was one of the companies that provided a competitive quote through the MovinRoo referral. I liked that AFTL was bonded, provided links to feedback from other customers (which I did check), and had a very informative website. They provided me with two quotes: One for a regular transport ($1,045), and a slightly higher, but still competitive, quote ($1,175) for an expedited transport. I became very busy trying to deal with the family issues and coordinate the vehicle transport and was somewhat overwhelmed with the choices. AFTL did a couple of things that set them apart from all the others. AFTL was the only company that gave me the expedited transport option and they guaranteed that, for the expediged transport, they would have the vehicle on the transport truck within 72 hours of the trucks availability. While many of the companies followed up with e-mails, some of the representatives from other companies were not readily available when I tried to reach them by telephone or did not return my calls. AFTL's representative was available, courteous, and seemed to be truly interested in meeting my needs. However, what made me choose AFTL in the end was that I had expressed that I was desparate to get the car to California quickly and, thus, was "considering" the expedited service. Wiithout any expressed commitment to using their service from me, AFTL contacted me when they saw they had a truck in my area and indicated that since it was already in the area, they could arrange for the vehicle to be on the truck within 72 hours at a rate less than the price they quoted forthe expedited service ($1,130). I took them up on the offer and the process was smooth and painless. The vehicle was picked up within 72 hours, the driver was on time, and he kept in contact with us throughout the transport to let us know his location and anticipated arrival time. The car arrived earlier then expected (picked up on 10/19 and delivered on 10/23). The driver was not only courteous and professional, but he also refused to accept a tip--taking only the agreed upon balance owed. The experience was much better than I had hoped for. I would use AFTL again without hesitation. --LPT
