In late 2001 I contacted ATS to ship my car to Canada. ATS gave me a quote of $900 and mailed me the contract. The contact indicated that ATS will serve as my agent to transport the car from Palo Alto, CA to Vancouver, BC, Canada. I mailed back the the contract with a check (full amount) and two photo copies of my title (the only documents on the letter/contract that ATS requested).
Later on a truck came by to pick up my car. One week later I received a call from a truck company that ATS sub-contracts to, saying that I don't have the necessary custom documents for the car to enter Canada. They can get the extra documents ready if I pay them another $300.
I contacted ATS to resolve this issue right away, but they refused to take responsibility about this. On their website they advertise as an international shipping company but they did not even handle my custom forms properly. Then ATS claimed that they are only responsible for shipping my car to the border, which obviously is different from the signed contract. I tried to call ATS for the next 2 weeks but the guy in charge kept ignoring me and avoiding this issue.
Finally I flew up to Vancouver and went down to Washington state to drive my car into Canada.
What frustrated me the most was I trusted ATS with its professionalism that they would take care of everything (or if they couldn't, at least indicate the necessary steps for me in the original contract/letters), while I ended up having to fly up there and drive in the car myself.
I would never ever use ATS again. Currently I am filing a complaint to Better Business Bureau.
