In December, my wife and I began doing our homework on auto transport carriers to take our son's car from the lower Hudson Valley, NY to Orange County, California. The car didn't have to be in California until the 29th of January, so we had time to research auto transport companies and thought we found the right one. Unfortunately, the company that I selected in the midwest was ineffective. I contacted them on December 26th and got the ball rolling, letting them know that in order to play it safe, we would like the car picked up by January 14th to ensure it was there by the 29th. Once the 14th came, we received no contact from the company and had to call them daily to find out what progress was being made. I am sorry to say that after five days, they let us know that they were cutting their commission in order to make the car more attractive to drivers, but for some reason, our car still wasn't being picked up. Finally, on January 22nd, we were getting nervous about the car making it out on time, and my wife went onto a website that triggers responses from brokers. One of the brokers that responded was Bruce Levinson from Above The Rest Auto Transport. Bruce promptly called me and explained how all of the brokers work off of the same posting board of work, and it is a matter of how much money is being offered to the driver in order to make the transaction attractive. This is where the expression "cheap is expensive" comes in. We weren't trying to do this on the "cheap" from the beginning, as we took a middle of the road quote. To make a long story short, Bruce and I spoke a half dozen times in a two hour period on January 22nd and he found a carrier for me within the first 45 minutes of communication. The car was picked up when promised and dropped off seven days later. It was two days after the date that we were hoping for initially, but that was no fault of Bruce's, as we didn't start our business with him until the 22nd. Bruce was knowledgeable, professional, and explained how the business worked. I would have gladly paid a little more from the outset to ensure the car's on-time arrival. Bruce bailed us out!
