I had requested shipping quotes through the internet and immediately my inbox began to fill up with quotes from various shippers. Each of these quotes was usually followed up with a phone call as well. This seems to be the way all the transport companies do business - trying to close the deal in a competitive market. As an end user this is tedious. I just want the best price and to deal with a reputable company. I guess I was lucky because my purchase was delayed as the seller had to travel out of town. When It came time to schedule the car pickup, I called Parker and let him know that I was ready to move ahead with the contract. His initial offer had expired and I was afraid they would try to raise the cost since they now knew I was ready to transport the car. Happily, this was not the case. He stood by the original quote which was on average $175 less than other quotes that I had received. I was relieved that I didn't have to restart the whole bidding process and start receiving all the annoying followup phone calls again.
The seller was happy on his end when the transporter picked up the car and I was happy when it was delivered to my home. I can't imagine that the process would have gone better if I paid additional money to a different carrier. Keep in mind I was shipping a driver quality car, so open transport fit the bill for my needs. Next time I need to ship a car I will call Affordable Auto Transport first and skip the whole annoying bid/pitch phase that the internet request generates.
