Although bummed about leaving the Pacific Northwest, I was so excited to have landed a new job this past Summer and equally excited about starting a new life on the East coast! However, once I started to consider the logistics about relocating I came across a really important question: what do I do about the car???!! Do I drive it? Do I leave it behind and lease something new? Can one...ship it?
With time and money being such complicated factors in this case I had realized that one COULD use a freighting service to ship their car and that they could essentially ship it anywhere in the States...even, in my situation, from coast to coast. With gas prices being as they are these days, the math involved in guesstimating how much fuel it would cost to travel cross-country was alarmingly high. Not to mention additional lodging costs, tolls, the wear and tear on the vehicle, and the several days of my personal time involved with me actually being behind the wheel. I did a Google search and found several freighting services with quotes for my particular situation indicating that it's not only cheaper to ship versus to drive, but that it's SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper. But, I've never had to transport my vehicle before...certainly a newbie like me would be destined to fall into some sort of scam or fall victim to some sort of bad experience due to my lack of familiarity with the business, right???
So WRONG! I was comforted by the rave reviews left online regarding the experiences of other customers who had used AmeriFreight. I called around to many other auto transport providers and was won over by the folks at AmeriFreight simply due to their ability to 1.) inform me of how the business works, 2.) provide the most affordable and realistic quote, and 3.) being able to interact with me in a professional, yet incredibly human, manner. Although my initial contact with AmeriFreight was meant simply to be more about researching, I knew I needn't look any further within the first few moments of the phone call. They were warm. They were fair. They were understanding of my personal concerns and answered my questions. They were even able to work with my weird timing issues: dropping the car off to them in Western Washington and able to meet up with me several days later in Upstate New York the day after I flew in. They were available to speak with me before the drop-off, while the car was in transit, and, of course, checking in with me after the car was picked up on the other side. The whole thing cost me $1100; my estimate of driving it over was closer to $1900. Using AmeriFreight was nothing short of fantastic!
I'm such a huge fan of the folks at AmeriFreight and am so grateful for the part they played during my transition into a new job in a new place with the safe, professional, and economic delivery of my car. I look forward to using them again in the future!
