I don't usually leave reviews but we received so many e-mails about how I needed to leave a review to close my account. I used AmeriFrirght to ship my new car from New York to Los Angeles. I was coordinating with my father who was in New York with my car while I was already in Los Angeles, we worked with Jessica. At the start there was a lot of confusions and she only wanted to speak to my father about the shipping but I told her on the phone that it was my car and I was the one coordinating pick up and drop off. I was never updated on anything and my father had to forward me emails even though I would respond to all of Jessica's email.
While the communication was difficult among the three of us at first things went smoothly afterwards. We called her I believe monday night right before they closed to let them know the car was ready for pickup. She gave us quote of $1,1000 but then on Wednesday called my dad asking for $1,400 to have the car picked up on Saturday. That was a bit annoying I would have preferred to know upfront it would be $1,400, but since they are brokers they post the job to a carrier who decides to take on the job. The breakdown is AmeriFrieght takes about $300 of the cost and the remaining money goes to the carrier.
I was in a bit of a time crunch since I was starting a new job soon and AmeriFrieght, like other brokers, do not guarantee a date just estimate one. After the car is picked up AmeriFrieght does nothing else and you coordinate with the carrier. I wish there was a way to have an exact date and time guaranteed by AmeriFrieght. My car came 2 days late on the day which was the first day of my new job- awful timing. The carrier had a part that broke along the way and needed to get it fixed. This was frustrating since I had to call the carrier the day and time of my drop off to find out.
Overall, there were complications along the way which is bound to happen with cross country shipping. The carrier was very apologetic about my car coming late worked with me to get my car to me as soon as he could, and he was not able to do the standard car wash because I told him I needed to leave for work. Given the circumstance I had a good experience mostly because of the carrier, AmeriFrieght just handled the booking with the carrier.
