Trnasporting car for busy person

I am a fairly busy person that needed a car transported. I came across Amerifreight through some searching on the internet. I decided to give them a try given past reviews. My agent was Lecia who was very helpful in trying to organize everything. I must have seemed like the most difficult client given that I was rarely reachable by phone (I work odd hours, have no reception at work) and kept adding on different blackout dates because of restrictions that came up. Through it all, Lecia was very responsive by phone and email and was helpful even when I needed to change dates. The car was picked up and delivered on time. Lecia gave me a call a day later to make sure everything went smoothly.
It was my first time shipping a car and here are some of my tips (mostly specific to this company):
1. Amerifrieght helps arrange for car transportation through car transporters, they do not actually own any vehicles that transport cars. They will look for a company that can transport your car which makes it useful for people who don't know who to ask or trust.
2. I purchased the extra protection for my car, however did not end up having to use it. When my car arrived, it was dirty (transported open), however after cleaning it, I did not find any reportable damage. The extra protection allows you a chance to clean the car and inspect it.
3. There is an option to select in which the agent can increase a bid up to a certain amount before calling you to confirm changes in order to secure a carrier. This was useful for me since it can be hard to reach me at work. Be prepared that the total cost might be a little more than expected though. However, I valued convenience since I needed the car.
4. It is invaluable to have someone that can help you be there for car delivery. It was tough because there is an estimated delivery date and the carrier has to drive a long distance, which is unpredictable. In this instance, the carrier arranged for me, called about 3 hours ahead of time saying that he would be at the delivery point mid-day on a weekday. For many people, including me, this would have proven difficult to meet and get the car (I can't just leave work at a drop of a hat). Fortunately, I had someone on hand to help pick up the car. This is probably true for all car deliveries, but as a warning to other first time car transporters, this was the most frustrating part of the car transporting experience.
5. The final quote was quite higher than the initial quote. I was prepared for this to happen since I saw this talked about on prior reviews, just making other people aware that it can happen. Probably a product of me trying to ship it during a specific time frame.
Bottom line:
Excellent customer service, helped me through the process and was very responsive by both email and phone.
