I thought the carrier (NAO auto) my broker (Lecia at amerifreight) found was fantastic. The driver was very communicative, picked up on scheduled, delivered early and didn't cause any damage to the car.
However, I struggled to find a way to communicate effectively with the broker. I was clearly just a number to the brokerage company. I had flexibility in my pick up dates and drop off dates but I may not be so flexible in the future because it seems it made it harder to schedule. The first carrier she found tried to pair me wanted to pick up the car within a few hours. Unfortunately the person who was relinquishing the care had already left for work. That's were the frustrating part of the experience started...
After we missed that first carrier, I tried to be clear and communicative on what days and times were available for pick-up within a 10 DAY window (and not overly restrictive...big chunks of time... for example, "all day on Tuesday" or "before 4pm on Wednesday") but apparently that information made it "too hard" to find a driver. I don't understand why the broker asked for my pick up availability if it was going to be such an impediment. I imagine other people who work normal 9-5 jobs have even more restrictions. It would have caused less frustration to just let the broker go out and get bids from carriers because she didn't find anyone until ~2 weeks later and it wound up being ~$100 more than originally quoted.
