Nice HR, poor carrier assignment

At first I was very impressed with Amerifreight because of the polite, prompt, and knowledgable HR people I spoke with in the office. However, I was much less impressed and even dissatisfied with this company after the first couple of phone conversations. I was initially quoted $1005 to move my car from CA to CT, but after my car sat in my driveway for days after my pick-up date, I had to raise my bid $200 to even get a carrier. Amerifreight should have been more up-front about realistic prices to attract a carrier. Once my car was finally picked up, (I actually had to meet the driver 5 miles from my home and coordinate my own transportation home,) it sat around in CA for an additional 3 days before leaving for CT.

En route, it was impossible for me to contact the driver even though I had been assured I would be able to. I left two messages on his cell phone and did not hear back from him. In fact, the first time I heard from him was already a day later than I had been told my car would arrive. He was calling to tell me that there had been a problem with his truck and he would be 3 days delayed. At this time, he was already back on the road, which means he could have called me 3 days earlier to tell me not to expect my car on time. During this conversation the driver scheduled the drop off with me and promised to call the morning of the delivery day; he did not call until the evening of the next day and wanted me to drop my own plans to pick up the car at his (late) convenience. During these days I attempted three times to contact the manager of this carrier company, but he refused to take or return my calls. He even told the driver to "deal with me" because he didn't want to. I found this highly offensive and unprofessional, especially since I had never been rude or unreasonable to begin with. Overall, I was very disappointed with the carrier company assigned to move my vehicle, and consider Amerifreight to be responsible for my poor experience.

I would not ship with this company again, despite their quality HR personnel.

The customer chose to ship with the Economy Rate option. As stated on our order forms, the economy rate is a standby rate we offer to our customers and is normally below the average going rate carriers will ship the vehicle at. Some carriers will accept this rate in order to fill a load. 65-70% of our customers have their vehicles picked up within 3-5 days at this economy rate. However, it does happen that carriers will not accept this rate and we will therefore have to renegotiate for a higher rate to get the vehicle moved. Our office did refund TC back a portion of the deposit to help offset the additional fee. We normally make customers well aware of these conditions for the economy rate. We apologize to TC if he was not well informed of this and we will make sure we stress this to all future customers. Our goal is to provide quality service to our customers, not only through our office staff, but also through our carriers. We desire to only partner with carriers that provide a top rate service to our customers. When our customers have a poor experience, as in this situation, we are sure to make note. We will not continue to work with carriers that do not provide good and respectable service to our customers.
