Great Carrier, Poor Amerifreight Service

Let me start with the good - the carrier selection from Amerhifreight was outstanding. The driver was friendly, honest, and helpful.
Amerifreight advertises their company as getting you the best deal. They quoted me at $685. I ended up paying $1025.
Earliest availability I told the company they can pick up date for my car: July 8th
Actual pick up of car: July 16
So what this company does, as stated by my broker, Graham.. is they call carriers and offer them the lowest price deal. If no company bites, they will raise the offering price... hence it takes them longer than other companies to get a carrier to say yes. My flight was set to leave July 19 and on July 14, still not word from Amerhifreight. Hope you can understand why my anxiety level started to rise. It would have been nice to know my car had a set date to leave.
July 15, they called me at 7AM, saying that a carrier would pick up my car later that afternoon. Obviously, I have a job and a life. Letting me know last minute is not very effective and efficient customer service. Also, it would have been nice if Amerhifreight told me that I would have to DRIVE my car and meet the carrier at a parking lot. Again, poor relay of message Amerhifreight. I would have been okay with this if you told me ahead of time so that I could have planned this out better. It was my LAST day on the job and I had to ask to go home early because Amerhifreight told me the MORNING OF, that my car would need to be ready to get shipped.
The carrier explained to me why we had to meet at the lot. Perfectly fine. Just wish I knew ahead of time.
As for price, I ended up paying 1000 anyways which is the price I got quoted from other companies... meaning, I could have skipped the anxiety of not knowing whether my car would leave on time or not. With a company starting their price at 1000, I would not have had to receive a last minute phone call the morning of shipping my car. If the price had been lower, then yes, it would have been worth it. That was not the case.
