On the plus side, my car was delivered earlier than I expected. I gave AmeriFreight from 1/30/2017 until the end of February to have the car delivered. My car was delivered on 2/14/2017 at approximately 7:30 am. AmeriFreight said that the car was going to be delivered between Wednesday and Thursday, and I am very happy that the driver delivered it so quickly. The car was transported on an open carrier, and was absolutely filthy when it was delivered. The driver did not completely unload the car when he had me sign the bill of lading, and waited for me to sign it first. I have not noticed any problems with the condition of the car. In hindsight, I should have done things very differently. AmeriFreight quoted $985 to have the car transported from Maryland to Utah. The other companies that I contacted were all at approximately $1200. Price was pretty much the determining factor for me, and AmeriFreigt appeared to have great reviews, so I signed up with them. I gave them my debit card number over the phone when I signed up (which they lost). I agreed to $98 gap coverage, but was told I absolutely had to have my own insurance coverage. The car was given to me by a family member, and I did not own it when it was transported. I also agreed to an 8.75% convenience fee to have AmeriFreight pay the driver on my behalf. Graham sent me an email with forms attached, and had me agree to terms on their website, over the phone. After I signed up, I asked Graham to send me copies of the terms that I agreed to, and he referred me back to their website, where the terms pull up when you click on a link. The terms also stated that they could negotiate a fee of up to $300 over the estimate. I went over what I could likely expect to pay over the phone when I signed up, and the conclusion on the call was that it would likely be around $1200, about the same price estimate given by the other companies. I was also told that I had up to 12 hours to respond when they contacted me about a potential driver. It turned out that I needed to respond immediately, or else I could lose the driver. I had to coordinate the pickup with my family member in Maryland, and this was a huge inconvenience. I also found out after agreeing to sign up with AmeriFreight and providing my debit card number that AmeriFreight had previously paid their customers to leave positive reviews. I saw an alert on the BBB website. AmeriFreight did not pay me to leave this review, but I did agree to leave an honest review when I signed up, and they contacted me after the car was delivered to remind me to leave a review. All in all, I am very happy that my car has been delivered, and is in decent condition, but this was much more expensive than I anticipated. In hindsight, this was my fault, I did not fully understand the fees, and I felt that I could not back out after I agreed to their contract. I would recommend that anyone considering AmeriFreight read their documents carefully before signing up, and ask a lot of questions.
