Auto transport brokering is an interesting business. As an individual desiring to ship a vehicle, one does not contact a shipper directly - that would make no sense if you think about it. There are hundreds if not thousands of shippers out there going in all directions all over the country. How do you find a trucker going where you need them? That's what brokers like AmeriFreight are for. There is an internet based "posting system" used by truckers and brokers to coordinate transport activities. A good broker will have people who know the details of how this system works, and who also have an understanding of other circumstances (like weather, labor issues, etc) thay may impact your shipment. Good brokers will follow up with you and keep you up to date on what's going on with your shipping arrangements. They keep you informed of both the good and the bad, and don't leaving you wondering what the heck is going on. No broker can pull a truck out of thin air and move your car. They must work with truckers and negotiate and coordinate shipping activities on behalf of their clients. Also, if a broker makes a promise they believe is reasonable, but cannot fulfull it, some form of recompense is appropriate. Based on all of the foregoing, I think AmeriFreight is excellent. My contact (Jonathan) gave me his cell phone number as well as direct office line, and he was easy to reach and easy to work with. That being said, it took several days longer to pick up my car than we had anticipated. But remember: the brokers cannot control the truckers. In my situation, we were hamstrung by a winter storm that backlogged a lot of truckers. Was I happy with the delay? Of course not! Was I satisfied with the way AmeriFreight handled things? Yes, very. Note that I am receiving a "rebate" of $20 to post this review, but I would not change a word of it had there been no rebate.
