Booked on Christmas eve, the last day Amerifreight was open until a few days after Christmas. I understand it was busy around the Holidays, but Rachel really fell off the face of the earth as soon as I put in the deposit. I tried calling her around the clock for a week (during business days) and failed to reach her. I had to speak with Jonathan who was very helpful but also became impossible to reach once New Years came close. The car was supposed to be picked up within 5 days, but because I did the saver package, they said there was really no guarantee. It was picked up on the 10th day.
However, they did pay an extra $25 to the shipper for me on the 10th day out of their own pocket as an incentive to shipper to get it off no later than the 10th day.
The shipper did not contact me in between leaving the house with my car and dropping it off. It turned out it had been stopped in the middle of the night for a drug interdiction (he said first time it's happened to him in 15 years of driving). The cops drove the entire carrier off to some secret location and searched our cars. I had personal belongings in the car (which you put inside your car at your own risk- it's legally not allowed by the DOT). I was fortunate to have my TV and other belongings remain inside my car, although the trunk looked like it threw up and swallowed its own vomit.
The car is extremely dirty- looks like it just went through a desert. Not sure if it's damaged because it's so dirty, but if I find out it is after washing car, I'lll update my review.
I would've really appreciated the carrier contacting me when it happened. However, when he dropped off the car he was really apologetic about it and seemed deeply disturbed by what happened.
Overall, I would say Amerifrieght is great- up front, good rate, and with the rebate they offered, my total went from $775 to $675. Just don't expect the 3 shipping agents to pick up the phone around xmas-NYE.
