The service provided by AmeriFreight was very pleasant to work with. The biggest thing about paying for your vehicle to be transported is putting up a good amount to compare to other vehicles on the board in your area. I initially was offering the carrier $700 to be picked up but after 10 days of waiting, the car was still not picked up. AmeriFreight was nice enough to contact me immediately and added $50 of the broker deposit to the amount offered to the carrier on the board. They then advised me to upgrade to get a sooner pick up. I paid nearly $200 more and had my vehicle picked by the date I was told it would get picked up by.
When I got my car, the driver of the carrier company was rude and had plenty of scratches that you can tell came from loading and unloading the vehicle onto the truck. While the carrier company sucked, AmeriFreight was quick to give me notifications of the status of my car during the whole process. As far as the scratches, AmeriFreight sent me the claim paperwork as soon as I notified them of the damages. I would use AmeriFreight again and would recommend them to anybody else. Just make sure to communicate with your representative to find out if you are offering a competitive amount for the pick up of your vehicle.
The total was $928, but since my vehicle did not get picked up soon enough, I upgraded and paid $1040 (not including $45 for damage insurance)
*** To the people who don't know the process:
when you pay for a broker to transport your car, they tell you an amount you will have to pay. Within that amount, there is a deposit (a.k.a broker's fee for setting up your vehicle to be picked up by a carrier). The remainder is how much is actually going to the carrier (the company who physically transports our vehicle). The amount that you are paying the carrier is the amount that is listed on a bidding board up for grabs to any carrier. The carriers in your area will go on this board, see how much each vehicle is offering for their transport and they will then pick and choose which vehicle they will transport (obviously, the vehicle that ffer the most money will get picked up 1st- in my case, since I was only offering $700 in the beginning, my vehicle did not get picked up by a carrier at all). Where you need to be weary is knowing how much other vehicles are offering to the carriers for pick up. If you are not in the same ballpark as the vehicles listed, don't hold your breath for your vehicle to be transported anytime soon.
