Damages, partial compensation

AmeriFreight people are actually very prompt and nice, but unfortunately, they hired my contract out to a third party that was local to my area. These people were not clear about insurance policies and the rules regarding inspection etc. Very very shady.

When the car arrived, the driver parked during traffic hour in the middle of a busy street, causing dangerous traffic situations. Obviously, my cars were not parked in a place where I was even able to inspect my car carefully (illegally parked on a lane). I had dirty material on the hood of my car/windshield which the driver quickly tried to clean up, and he said some windex would clean it off and had me quickly sign a paper to release the car.

A few days later, I heard noises while driving, found a cracked roofrack which they first tried to get out of paying for and on top of that the "material" on my hood was actually leaked break fluid from a car above mine. It corroded my paint severely and they refused to pay. They claim that because I didn't note the damages in the paper I signed, they were not liable. As I said above, the area in which the cars were parked was ILLEGAL, I had to move them quickly before some officer decided to ticket me for creating such a traffic mess. He did not park the cars in a parking lot of a shopping mall or anything like that, it was parked ON A LANE on a busy street (two cars for that matter!)

It's been over 3 months since I have received my car at my new home, and I'm still waiting for PARTIAL payment (they only agreed to pay for the roofrack, a measly $50) while my hood remains irreversibly damaged. I don't even know what it's going to cost to fix this and they claim that because I didn't sign the GAP coverage, it's my fault. I was never told that if THEY damaged my car, that they would not be liable. Seems to me if the driver didn't try to wipe the break fluid everywhere by "trying" to clean it up, maybe my hood would not have been in such terrible condition as it is now. I'm very disappointed with this whole ordeal and hope this kind of thing does not happen to anyone else.
