This review is long, but bear with me and read the review. You'll be glad NOT TO DO BUSINESS WITH ANGELS MOVING AUTOS.
After reading many of the excellent reviews provided by previous customers for Angels Moving Autos (I'm starting to wonder if these truly were from previous customers), I decided to request a quote from them. When requesting an internet quote I received an automatic notice stating (something along the lines) that I should call for an accurate quote, since the increase in fuel prices may increase their quote.
The original multi-quote email (sent from sales@angeltransport.com) showed 3 listings - One for Open Transport at $1125.00, one for Enclosed Transport for $1775.00, and one for Non-running for $1275.00.
I contacted their Toll Free number and received a call back from a woman named Donna who was very courteous. I pointed out to Donna several times during our phone conversation that my shipment needed to be an enclosed transport, top rack only, that it needed to be picked up prior to Sept 8th (I was moving out of the state that morning) and delivered after Sept 12th (I was not scheduled to arrive in NY until after that date).
Several times I had to repeat my requests to Donna as she seemed a bit confused with my pick-up and drop off date requests.
After receiving an email with an Auto Transportation Contract (for the amount of $1775.00) for an Enclosed Transport, requested shipping date of 9/2/2008, I contacted Donna back and made a $275 deposit using my VISA card for the contract amount.
Shortly thereafter I received a call from a woman named Diana or Dina who said she worked for Nationwide Auto Shipping and that my vehicle would be picked up the next morning and delivered in NY on Sept 10th. I had to reiterate to this new person about my requested delivery date after Sept 12th. The delivery date was confirmed and upon request I was given the Carrier's MC Number 648711 of which I intended to review to be sure that I felt comfortable with shipping my 2008 Land Rover LR2 (valued at $45,000) with this company. When Diana/Dina told me that the Carrier had been in business for one year, I indicated that I wasn't too comfortable using a Carrier that had been in business for such a short period of time. I pointed out that I would look into the company and if I didn't feel comfortable with my findings, I would cancel the pick-up.
The Carrier owner called me to discuss any issues that I might have in using their service and when I told him that I was accepting the Carrier, I was told that he had already cancelled the pick-up because Diana/Dina had told him that I was going to cancel. After discussing the events with the Carrier owner, we agreed that the message I gave to Diana/Dina got mixed up and that we were both happy to reschedule the pick-up.
The next morning I called Angels Moving Autos and spoke with Dina (who said she was the owner of the company) to ask if she had spoken with the Carrier to reschedule the pick-up. Almost immediately, Dina started arguing with me about the cancellation, about my requests for pick-up and delilvery dates, and about the contracted price (which her employees quoted me several times). Dina indicated that Donna (my original contact person) had made a mistake with the quote (even though I received an email quote 3 times with the same price), that the price was too cheap for an enclosed transport, how my vehicle required space for two vehicles (its one of the smallest SUVs on the market), and how she would need to charge me approximately $2250.00 to ship the vehicle. I could hardly get a word in because Dina continued to argue with me about my requests and the contract price. I was then placed on hold for approx 5 minutes while Dina spoke with Donna. When Dina finally came back online and quoted me the new price, she simply said, quite rudely, "SO WHAT DO YA WANNA DO?" I informed her that I merely wanted to get my car shipped, but since she was being so rude to me after a mistake was made by her employee, that there was NO WAY I WAS GOING TO SHIP THROUGH ANGELS MOVING AUTOS! Dina indicated that she would be reimbursing my deposit of $275 and quickly hung up.
Now, the Carrier owner (of Nationwide Auto Shipping) Dimitru Muntean called me back a few hours later to ask what happened and if the vehicle had been rescheduled for pick-up. After explaining the events to Dimitru, he indicated to me that he had not done much business with Angels Moving Autos, but was still willing to ship my car for me.
Unfortunately, I was trying to reschedule this on my last day of work with my employer and my day was overly busy working out the logistics of my transition. I am still hoping to do business with Nationwide Auto Shipping and believe that Dimitru is a good and honest person, willing to take the extra step to make this shipment possible. This is not the same for Angels Moving Autos and I hope it deters others from making the same mistake I almost made - in doing business with them. FYI - during the course of my conversations, I spoke with approximately 4 or 5 different people from A.M.A. all of whom had their hands on this shipment. Sales quoted me (several times), Donna took my information and order, Kate booked the shipment, Jennifer spoke to me about Kate and Donna, and Dina just yelled at me. For what, I'm still not sure. This is my first time trying to ship a vehicle and Dina certainly didn't give me a good impression of dealing with Brokers.
FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME AND I WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO PROVIDE YOU WITH PROOF OF THE 3 QUOTES RECEIVED FROM A.M.A. SHOWING THE $1775.OO PRICE FOR AN ENCLOSED TRANSPORT AS WELL AS MY RESEARCH OF DIMITRU'S MC NUMBER.
