Last minute decision I decided to ship my car for my move to Utah from Maryland. I contacted several companies to get quotes and had a very low quote from one so I decided to go with them. After doing some research I realized that the lowest quote is not always the best. I called a few actual trucking companies and they told me that carriers will have a minimum price and if the broker doesnt meet that (minus their deductable) the car will most likely not be picked up and they will wait a week to ask for more money. For me this was an issue because I needed my vehicle right away to start looking for jobs. After doing the math the company I had picked first was only going to pay the trucking company 775 adding their "insurance" and deductable to total 1038. The going rate to have my truck moved was 900 according to carriers.

I already had my contract in with the first company but could cancel at any time scheduled for first pick up day to be Monday but after realizing what was going to happen it could be much longer. George Pastera contacted me on Friday before the Monday pick up and I explained to him my situation and that I was worried my car wouldnt be picked up through the other company. He said not to worry he will work on it he just went through a very similar situation with a similar vehicle himself. He said to expect a call next week. I thought nothing of it because I had been dealing with several other carriers promising the same thing. I flew to Utah on Monday night and the very next day to my suprise I got a call from George saying that he had found a carrier for me for that evening. I was in disbelief. The quote was 1050 but the driver was getting paid almost 900. In order for me to go with Auto Star I would have to cancel my other contract that I had already set up. This means I had to put a whole lot of trust into George and the new company.

Well, I am glad I did because what could have taken days even weeks with the other company, my truck was picked up that very night at around 2 in the morning and made it to Utah by Friday at 3pm. That means the drivers were pretty much going non stop the whole way here. The car was in perfect condition, and the drivers couldn't have been nicer. I guess in a way I got really lucky but the level of service I received was incredible in a literal sense of the word. It was too good to be true.

Thank you auto star and more importantly thank you George Pastera for your excellent service.

PS... I know this is a stressful event for those about to ship their car but do some research before hand. Find out what the carriers are actually getting paid ie what the deductible is and subtract that from the quote. The lowest quote is not always the best. Make sure the carriers companies use have cargo insurance etc....
