Better than expected

IIRC, I got a lower offer elsewhere, but Brian's customer service put it over the top. He explained in a clear manner the logistics of scheduling- that exact dates are difficult to impossible to promise industry-wide- while also listening to our needs. We shipped both our cars with him and wanted to stagger the dates so that we would minimize our time without a car and needing a rental. We did not get exactly what we wanted which was no renting on either end. But what we did get was extra days on the move out side with both our cars which turned out to be a great boon. Our cars were picked up on a Wednesday, on Thursday we were picked up by a rental car company and got in on a weekend special. So the rental costs ended up being low. Brian was extremely responsive to phone calls. The times I left messages, my calls were returned 10-20 minutes later. He also worked hard to offer us options which for a cross-country relocation was really helpful.

Our cars were transported by a driver named Donald. Our cars are 13 year old subcompacts and we had several worries: first, that the transporter wouldn't respect our cars and treat them harshly, second, that if we stored anything in the cars they would be missing at the destination. In talking with Donald as he was loading our cars it was clear that he absolutely respected our cars and understood our desire to not be buying new cars needlessly. He treated all the cars on his truck professionally, with care. Because other friends have reported stuff stolen from their cars during transport, we emptied our cars. Had I known how responsible Donald is, I would have left a few things behind, particularly the car seat base. We probably still would not have packed the cars to the gills because we wouldn't want to attract attention from bored teenagers. The only minor downside is that a combination of a slight foreign accent with Donald's bluetooth sound quality made it a bit tricky to talk to him on the phone. But for the quality of his service, I can easily overlook that.

Frequently, customers are treated as inconveniences to be dealt with. Brian really knows how to help people and has developed good relationships with trusted drivers like Donald. That makes Autozipper worth more than what we paid them.

If I ever have to do a similar move, I will be calling Brian and requesting Donald.
