The short version: I paid about 3-3.5 times what other companies charge for transporting my car. Plus I did not get the service I was given the impression I was paying for. I paid $650 in fees to Move Wheels for getting my car shipped from upstate NY to Maui, HI but they only managed the transport from NY to a port in California. The communication with the shipping company that transported my car from California to Hawaii was done by me! If I had known that before, I could have paid $175 to the company offering to have my car transported from NY to CA and saved $475!! The transport cost from NY to CA and CA to HI was over and above the $650 I paid BWT/MoveWheels but that cost was the same if I had used the company charging $275. And the coordination I had to do was the same as well. I did not get the benefit of better service or less work by paying more to BWT/MoveWheels. Save your money and go with a smaller, more reliable broker/company that does not over-charge.
The long version:
I decided to use BWT/MoveWheels because I wanted to ship my car from upstate NY to Hawaii. Very few companies offer shipping all the way to Hawaii. I have used one company many times to ship cars for members of our family because they are reliable and reasonable. However they could only arrange transport from upstate NY to a California port. I found out how to ship from California to Hawaii but then I thought it would better to use a company that could manage the whole trip from NY to HI. MoveWheels said they would do that. Durinng one of my conversations with them, I found out that they were planning to use Pasha Hawaii to ship my car from Californai to Hawaii and were going to have my car transported to the Pasha location in Oakland, CA. Since I had already done some research on Pasha, I knew that although they have multiple drop-off locations in California, the cars are all put on a ship from their San Diego location. So it's cheaper and faster to send the car to San Diego rather than any other location in California. Unless you live near one of the other locations and can drive the car there yourself. I shared that information with them to make sure they sent my car to San Diego. It took MoveWheels almost three weeks to get a trucking company that would pick up the car from NY. Apparently it was because of the bad weather and being just after the holidays. But since I was paying 3-3.5 times more in fees to BWT/MoveWheels, I expected better results. For the CA to HI transport, MoveWheets did practically nothing. They made an online booking with Pasha (which I already knew how to do) and then sent me the link so I could upload all the documents. Once the car was delivered to San Diego, I got an email from BWT/MoveWheels asking me to write a review about their service. I replied to them saying that they need to see the transport through all the way to Hawaii and got no response. Fortunately, Pasha Hawaii is very professional, and everything went smoothly, but there was no time or effort put in by BWT/MoveWheels for that. Save your money and go with a smaller, more reliable broker/company that does not over-charge.
