Mr. Tombarelli contracted with us to ship a 1999 Chevy Blazer from Bradford, MA to Vero Beach, FL on 1/19. He requested a pick up window between 1/20 and 1/24. That same day, his order was assigned to JR's Auto Transport to be picked up on 1/21 and hold for delivery until 1/28 since nobody would be available to receive the vehicle until the evening of 27th in Florida. Our customer service team contacted him and advised him of the carrier assigned along with the estimated pick up date and delivery date. We reminded him on the procedure and prepared him for his move. When the carrier arrived to pick up his vehicle, Mr. Tombarelli attempted to pay the driver with a personal check. The driver politely explained to him that he could not accept personal checks and offered him his payment options. Mr. Tombarelli, became agitated and through the check at the driver telling him to accept it. The driver explained to him that he could not and they agreed to make a payment on delivery in the acceptable form. The driver loaded the car and proceeded on route. The driver reached Florida on 1/26 and attempted to deliver the vehicle, the customer asked for him to deliver to his residence but did not have a payment ready at the residence. The driver had to then store the vehicle and redeliver it at a later date. The carrier charged the customer an additional $100.00 for the re-delivery of his vehicle. Had the customer paid the driver with the correct form of payment, which is stated in bold on the front of the shipping agreement, all of this would have been avoided. Bluestar did not charge the customer any additional fees and we honored our agreement with the customer. In addition, he received a credit for the $100.00 charge he incurred by the carrier.
