I learned a lot from this experience. Without checking the reviews, (didn't know of the site) I chose a shipper -Silva - recommended by the seller. Price was less, but 3-wheeled motorcycle never did get picked up. After 10 days, I canceled the order. By then, I had learned more about the industry by reading reviews and speaking with several employees of Cascade.
By contacting Cascade on their on-line quote page, I had about 4 different companies contact me - all owned, it seems by one company. If I could, I would suggest that too many people tried to contact me. I got confused, and had to ask how each one found me, and why they seemed to be competing for my business. That is how I found out about the "one owner".
Regardless, I realized that I would almost never stand a chance of getting the bike shipped by covered truck - too bad, because that is really what I wanted.
I also learned quite quickly that "money does get things done". The people at Cascade mentioned that right off the bat. There are more "open trucks" than covered ones - and no covered ones seemed to go to my shipping origin in Wisconsin.
I finally chose an open truck, and that seemed to be the answer. That, and an additional $500 over the original quote from the original company, Silva.
I was contacted by Cascade AND the truck driver within one day of the order being posted. I was told, by the company, that the shipment would take 7 days. Then told by the driver it would take 10 days. Even then, it was one day late - but that really did not matter in my case.
The driver, Dave, went well out of his way for me with this shipment. He had to do a few "extras" while loading it, and a few unloading. I APPRECIATED HIS EXTRA WORK.
Jacquie, my contact at Cascade, was more than helpful and kept in contact with me until the actual delivery of the bike. I appreciated that.
I would use this company again, and recommend it to anyone.
A SIDE NOTE: while I did give this accurate report, I also wanted to do one on the original company. Could not do it. This review page requires a contact's "LAST name" or contract number. In the case of SILVA, I did not get a contract number because it never happened (as previously explained) and it was hard enough getting the first name of the contact, never mind the LAST name.
So, unfortunately, I cannot add to their reviews and thus protect any other potential customers. Sorry it had to show up in this review instead.
