UPDATE!!!- - - - - - - - - So it has been months now, and still no refund. I have disputed the charge three times now. The first two times, Matt provided a copy of the credit card receipt and said that he had no record of my dissatisfaction with service provided. Even though I provided all of my emails, the credit card company takes the credit card receipt as evidence some how. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! Take it from someone who has been burned! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - So this was my first time shipping a vehicle. I got online and searched for auto transport companies. I put my info online and was contacted by multiple brokers. I didn't choose the least expensive person, I chose the person who seemed to be the most motivated to work for me. So I chose Matt at Crosslands Express. At first, the customer service was good. Matt returned my calls promptly and seemed like a very honest guy. He supposedly found a driver for me pretty quick and I decided to put down the $150 down payment to reserve the spot on a truck. This date was approximately 3 months in advance of the pick up date. A few months go by, and I start trying to contact Matt about getting the drivers information. This is where things start getting a little sketchy. The response time became very slow or nonexistent. I started stressing out about my truck getting picked up since I had already left the area. I would get responses via email or not at all, and no matter what phone number I called, no one would answer. Matt finally contacted me and said he would send me the driver's info. Never got it. Pick up date comes and goes and no truck and no driver. I call and call and get no answer from Matt. Finally, I call from my wife's cell(a number he didn't recognize) and he answers first try. Matt sounded surprised it was me, like he was avoiding me. He reassures me that he had a driver. Gives me a name and phone number of a carrier. I call the carrier and he says that the order number doesn't exist and that he doesn't even go to California. After I stress out about this and talk to Matt, he says that he will just have to find a new driver. I gave him 3 weeks to try to fix his mess up. Finally, I told him that I wanted a full refund and he said no problem and that he doesn't blame me. The original date that he said he had a driver was late March, the pick up date was supposed to be late May, and and the date that I asked for a refund was June 18th. I still haven't received the refund and have had to dispute the charges with the credit card company. My advice to anyone looking to ship a vehicle is to do your research on the difference between brokers and carriers. Crosslands Express is a broker, and it is a company of Matt and possibly one other broker. Brokers are a middleman. They just find a carrier for you and charge you a fee. The brokers will quote you low, hoping they can find you a driver for cheap. Matt quoted me a good price 3 months in advance. The market changed and prices went up in that time. My guess is that he wasn't able to get my truck shipped that cheap and didn't want to eat the extra cost. If I ever have to ship my truck again, I will find a carrier directly. The cost will probably be a little higher than what a broker will quote, but it eliminates the shady middleman. Oh, and I finally did get my truck shipped through another company that was both a broker and carrier company and it cost me almost double what Matt quoted me.
