Response by Scott LaVange – Claims, DIY Transport: I would like to response to the accusations made by Mr. Joshua Ortega. We at DIY go to great lengths to assist our customers anytime there is a damage claim involved in the shipment of their vehicle. As with any process certain steps must be taken in order to obtain a successful result. In this particular case Mr. Ortega was sent the proper paperwork to review whether he would be able to file a claim for damages incurred in the transport of his vehicle. After reviewing the information sent to him Mr. Ortega called and was asked could he provide the necessary documentation to proceed with his claim. Mr. Ortega stated he did not have any documentation what so ever from either the pickup or delivery site stating there was noted damage to his vehicle. Mr. Ortega was sent an Instruction letter prior to his shipment being picked up providing information as to how to proceed with the inspection of the vehicle during pickup and delivery. None of this information provided to Mr. Ortega was followed or used, hence Mr. Ortega has no proof or record that the damage occurred during the transport of his vehicle. We understand Mr. Ortega is frustrated as any customer would be, but if an incident occurs and there is nothing to point to how or when it occurred, then there is not much that can be done about it. We at DIY take our reputation very seriously and I mentioned that to Mr. Ortega when he stated he would blow us up on the internet and that he could say whatever he wanted but be very careful how you say it. He response back to me was I’m in California and you can’t touch me. In closing we at DIY goes to great lengths to try a reach a successful outcome when dealing with damage claims, but when we are provided no documentation or proof it is very difficult indeed to reach a positive result.
