DAMAGED WINDSHIELD

Had a BMW 325i shipped from Sacramento, CA to Mesquite, TX (outside Dallas) which took approximately 1 week, less than the up to 2 weeks I was told it could take. Move went pretty well. At pickup (March 24th), car came out washed, but wet. Terminal employee, Hector, told me he didn't dry it because he didn't want to damage the paint. In hindsight, it appears that it was to hide a gouge in the windshield that was above the rearview mirror. At checkout, I could not see the gouge as it was most likely filled with the excess water. Took car directly home to garage and parked it there as I received a ride from a co-worker. Noticed crack from gouge running down the windshield when I returned home after work (March 24th). Did not drive the car until March 29th to get windshield estimates. Have 2 motorcycles and don't need to drive car.

Filed claim with DAS. Didn't respond to me until I sent a 2nd email to them, which is what I expected. Received call from Sheila Hairston in the Claims department who said they are denying the claim as I did not note it on the BOL at checkout, even though I called as soon as I could after work - and the windshield was dry. Sheila said that it was indicated that there were pits in the windshield. Told her that pits don't make the windshield crack like it did and their terminal employees in Sacramento indicated the pits on the lower and closer to the A pillar passenger side.

Needless to say, I will not be recommending them or ever using them again. I even talked to Phil Mann who said the insurance would cover the vehicle and my understanding is that the windshield would be covered with the "extra" insurance that I paid in my fee - apparently I was wrong and lied to by Phil and DAS. A bunch of sheisters here in Texas, watch your back.
