I recently bought a used vehicle located in mid-state Indiana that needed transport to the Chicago area. Transporting the car myself using rented equipment was reaching $500 or more between rental fees, gas, taxes, mileage, etc. I looked into some shipping companies and felt that the reviews for Direct Express justified a closer look.
My phone call was answered promptly and courteously. All the details for transporting the vehicle were clearly explained. The first driver expected the vehicle to be dropped off at a pickup depot, which wasn't possible. A quick call back to Direct Express secured another driver who could transport the vehicle door to door.
The driver called me once the car was loaded and again within an hour of dropping off the vehicle. The driver found my home without help. The car arrived undamaged and completing the remaining paperwork was a snap, maybe 5 minutes at most. The transport driver was knowledgeable and courteous through the entire process. Pick up to drop off was about 4-5 hours total, much quicker than I expected. The driver could only flatbed two cars total, and the shipping distance was about 300 miles. I wouldn't expect service that fast under all circumstances, but for short hops I think the chances are good.
In sum, shop around to best meet your needs, but I'm confident that you'll choose Direct Express. I'm confident that your experience will be equal to, if not better than, my own.
