I had driven my car out to California from Michigan for the summer and decided that it would be easier and not that much more expensive to ship it back rather than drive it. I spoke with an eBid Transport representative over the phone who was very helpful, especially in explaining how the process works (i.e. eBid Transport is a middleman that hooks you up with a variety of independently owned/operated trucking companies). They were very transparent about the process and their fees. My quote over the phone was $50 more expensive than the online quote, and it ended up taking another $50 on top of that to entice a carrier, but at $900 total (including eBid Transport's $150 fee) this was still within my budget. eBid Transport indicated that I could pack up to 100 lbs of items in the trunk, but that they weren't liable for it, so I shouldn't pack anything expensive. This wasn't a problem. I spoke directly with the truckers to arrange pick-up. They were from Nepal, and a little hard to understand, but very polite and accommodating. When it came time for pick-up, they were unable to get their vehicle onto our street, so we drove a few blocks over to them. They were out of their bill of lading forms (something of a formality, intended to substantiate ownership in shipping transactions, apparently) but they copied the text onto a piece of notebook paper. That was the only receipt, which seemed a little odd (a lot of jokes about my car ending up in a chop shop in Mexico) but we never had any problems. I wasn't yet in Michigan when the car was delivered (they unloaded it by the highway and drove it directly to my home), but luckily a friend was able to receive it (the only tricky part here was that the $750 payment to the truckers had to be in cash or money order, but we were able to work this out). The car looked no worse for wear and my stuff was untouched- -I couldn't ask for anything more. Overall I had a good experience and would certainly recommend eBid Transport to anyone else needing to ship their car.
