BEWARE! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

I truly wish I knew about this review site before choosing Fairway/Auto Move Now. They gave a good quote. The "contract" let you choose 3 services, depending on how quickly you wanted the car delivered. I chose Standard, as this was going to be a parts car & we were in no hurry. I was very explicit in emails to the salesman that we were in no hurry, as the contract states that if you select the quick service, there will be an additional charge of $275.00. On the day after the pickup date we requested came (you have to select a requested pick up date), a transport driver called & said he was on the way & we needed to have $350.00 ready when he got to our shop. I had already paid $175.00 to Carl & the balance, per the contract, was $274. The driver said there must be a mistake & said he'd call Fairway. About an hour later, Carl "Jones" (it took him a few seconds to think of this last name) said that we needed to pay $26 additional, for no reason, other than the car was being delivered when they said they would try to get it delivered. Carl was interpreting the contract to read that because they picked the car up near the date we requested, that this was, in fact, priority service & that in reality, we should be paying $275.00 extra. Carl became increasingly (in my opinion) rude & obnoxious ("are you breathing? I can't hear you breathing") as I was trying to read the contrasct & my email. At this point, it bacame a matter of principle, being talked down to. Carl got to the point of demanding an additional $275.00 & threatened to have the car taken to "the yard", where he'd sell our car for parts. He didn't know where the yard was, but our car was going there. Realizing that he was holding the car hostage at this point, I agreed to pay the additional $26 to get me car delivered. Carl then demanded I send an email stating I would not go through PayPal to retrieve my additional monies. This entire experience was extremely unpleasant. Fairway could give away auto transports for free & I would not use their services. If they expended as much effort in alienating & being rude to customers into good customer service, perhaps they would enjoy a higher rating than 2 stars & actually get repeat business. Carl has to be the owner, as he certainly could not be a hired employee, as no honorable company would keep him in their employ. The contract driver, by the way, was extremely nice & professional.
