I have had numerous cars moved in the past several years. My choice of Fleet United was based on its low quoted price for an inop car and its promise of a pick up within two weeks. My original quote was for $840. After two weeks, I called and asked where they were. They responded that they had been without power for a week due to tropical storms. That was unfortunate, but understandable and I cut them some slack, still wondering what the storms in the Miami area had to do with transporting a car that was located in Wisconsin. I apologize about my lack of names for people I talked to but this move happened last year and I didn't keep complete notes. I recall that I did talk to two different people who said they were owners and I got the idea that two of them were partners.
Several days later, someone called and said they needed another $100 to transport the car. I told them it was unethical of them to do this and I even suggested that they should cut me a break because of their slovenly handling of the transport thus far. My complaints fell on deaf ears. I had already paid them a deposit and I knew it would take another several weeks to set up something else, so I agreed, reluctantly. They finally picked the car up 43 days after I contracted with them. Allowing that it could have taken as long as 10-14 days, that still makes them 29 days late. Keep in mind that it was imperative that the car be picked up within two weeks. Hence it caused a severe strain on the transaction. It was only by the good nature of the seller that we worked something out. I have the individual emails from the previous owner to prove what I am saying. God bless him and his kindness. Fleet United tried to say that it was my fault because they had the pickup incorrect address, even though they had the pickup phone and my phone and I had repeatedly corrected this address via the phone. In my opinion, these people are worse than incompetent and should never be used. I am stunned to read that they have a few good reviews.
