DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!

I originally was quoted $750.00 (email quote available to those who request) to ship a car I purchased from Concord, Virginia to my home in Yorba Linda, California. Upon receiving the contract (copy available if requested) the fee went up $30.00 to $780.00. I called and questioned the increase and spoke with a gentleman by the name of Barry. He informed me that this was a 4% administrative charge that the Department of Transportation charges to carry certain insurances on the vehicles they ship. I agree to the charge and signed the contract putting down a $200.00 deposit that was to be deducted from the total. The remainder of $580.00 was to be paid directly to the driver.

My vehicle was picked up in Virginia as promised and was in transit when I got a call from the actual driver with my car. He advised me the total due to him was $833.00 and he would be at my house to deliver the vehicle in a few hours. This amount was IN ADDITION to the $200.00 deposit I had already posted to the company. My $780.00 quote went up to $1033.00 just like that. I talked to the driver and he advised me that I needed to deal directly with the broker who I dealt with. So I called the direct line to Barry and he did not answer. I left him a lengthy message and did not get a call back. With such a short time until the driver was to deliver the vehicle, I decided to call the broker’s office directly. This is when I got a hold of Andy.

I started to explain the situation to him and he said "per your contract I charged you an additional 10% due to the increase of diesel fuel". I went to http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/oog/info/wohdp/diesel.asp to get the current diesel prices and was shocked to learn that prices in diesel fuel actually went down over the last two weeks. So I was charged this $78.00 fraudulently. Further, this broker charged me an additional $175.00 for expedited pick up. My SIGNED contract states that I was fine with a 4-10 day pick up for no additional charge. When I explained this to Andy, he got very upset with me and started yelling at me telling me he was not going to transport this car for a $42.00 profit. I again explained to him that his company was the one that quoted me based on my information, not vice versa. He began getting angry and offered to give me $250.00 in additional “gas coupons” to make up the difference. When I explained to him that I didn’t want gas, I wanted what was on the contract he then threatened me and said “then I will charge you for an over weight vehicle” and remove the expedited fee. I, again, told him that I provided the information on the vehicle prior to his quote. It is his business to do the research on the vehicle prior to quoting me. At this point, he got irate and said I either accept the terms or he will call the driver and have the car parked at the terminal at $25.00 a day storage fee and continued to state a “68 Chevelle is definitely worth that now isn’t it”. I had no choice but to allow this extortion to take place and pay this man the money so I could get my car. I am not a cheap person and I definitely do not intend to swindle people out of their money, but I do expect a company to follow their own contract and in the very least, work with their customers when a misunderstanding occurs. The threats of basically stealing my car and putting in a terminal to rack up the fees was outrageous.

Additionally, Andy told me that he had already paid the driver so he could not work with me on the total price because he wasn’t going to take a hit on the shipment of my car. This does not make sense to me, as I was instructed to pay the driver directly in cash or money order. The driver stated that he was paid upon delivery of the vehicle. The two “stories” did not match up.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY EVER!!!

this customer has said that we said that we paid the driver, this is absolutely not true, since her cod goes to the driver and any balance owed by Flofield gets paid out of her deposit which was given to us. The 10% fuel charge was for the area that the truck traveled through. The customer was fully aware of the additional charge for the expedited service, and requested that the car be picked the day after the order was placed, now she is complaining about the charge, I guess that is a good one. We did not charge for other items that she signed for and had no intention of doing so. The contract and the website disclose everything and people should read them and if they do not understand should question it. There were no hidden charges everything was disclosed in the contract that she signed and supposedly read, she never asked any questions about the contract.
