As my first experience with shipping a car across the country, I came out of it a much wiser man and consumer. This is a two part review of a) Freedom Auto Transport, and b) the trucking company that "won the bid", First Housing Management, Inc. (which I could not find on this site):
I was referred to Freedom Auto Transport by a person I trust and who is as OCD about his car as I am about mine. He had used them before, so when he gave them a resounding thumbs up, I called them up. As a broker/brokerage, they were able to pair me with a trucking company that could meet my dropoff/pickup location and date needs. The estimate was reasonable, considering the requested pickup date was within one week of the initial phone call. My Rep, Jake, as you've read previously, was absolutely superb. His promise to "hold [my] hand every step of the way" was met to the fullest. When we ran into some kinks (see part two), he did everything within his power to get things back on track, every time. At the end of the adventure, my car was picked up where I wanted, and dropped off where I wanted. If you're considering working with a broker, I highly recommend Freedom Auto Transport.
Freedom's only shortcoming was the actual trucking company I was paired with. The short version of this 10-day ordeal is that once I put a deposit down (with Jake) I was promised a phone call within 24-hours from the trucking company. That call never came. One the second day I got a call with a pickup window, but the truck never showed up, and I never got a phone call about it. That was pretty much my experience the entire time they had my car: Picked up 4 days late, dropped off one day late, absolutely terrible about keeping me in the loop until Jake had to light em up from his end. I could write a thousand words on how frustrated I was every moment- except when talking to Jake. Eventually they dropped off the car 100 feet from my house which was not the original drop off point, so I'll give them that. I could not find First Housing Management, Inc. on this review site- If I did I'd give them a two out of five, since my car was not damaged in transit. After all was said and done Jake said he would not use this shipper again, so as long as you're talking to Jake, you're probably in great hands.
