This was the first time having a car shipped. After making several phone calls I discovered that all companies were not alike. The prices varied from company to company, which I expected to a degree. On the second or third call I was informed about Transport Reviews. After reading some of the reviews on the companies that I had spoke to, I was shocked to find out how many bad companies were out there. I decided to only contact companies that had good reviews, of course their rates were higher. When I contacted Amy @ GT Transport she was very pleasant to talk to. She was honest and knowledgeable on the carrier business. When I told her about my concerns about the shady subcontractors out there she assured me that she only dealt with reputable contractors. I informed her that I lived in Canada and it would be a 4 to 5 hour drive to meet the driver at the drop off location, again she told me it would not be a problem. Amy even found a subcontractor before asking for a deposit. She gave me all the information on the company that would be transporting my car on a TRANSPORT CARRIER. It was after this that all the problems started.
I contacted Mike from BUYRIGHT ENTERPRISES to confirm the order and pick up date. I explained to him that the pick up and drop off date were important that they were met on a specific time. He told me that the car would be picked up on Sunday and a drop off date of Wednesday night or Thursday morning. I told him I had to book the time off work in advance. Sunday turned into Monday, then Tuesday, Wednesday morning, and then the car was finally picked up on Wednesday night in the dark. The gentleman that I purchased the car from was tired of waiting around for the driver. Initially we were told that the car would be hauled on a four car transporter, then it changed to a two car transporter, but I was never told that my car would be hauled on a tow truck with a wheel lift. It was only when I received photos from the sender showing the condition of the car when I seen that the car was being hauled on a flat deck. I kept in close contact with the driver to establish his ETA while he assured me that my car would stay on the deck and not be on the wheel lift. He informed me that he would be at the drop off point on Thursday night. Once again, that turned into Friday noon. Before leaving Friday morning to meet him, I could not get a hold of him. I arrived at the drop off point on time only to find out I would be waiting a long time. The driver finally arrived at 12:30 am. I spoke with him 2 hours before drop off to determine a specific drop off location of his choice and gave him specific instructions not to unload the car until I was present. He called and informed me that my car was unloaded three blocks away. I met him where he dropped the car and I found he was quit eager to get paid and leave without inspecting the car. After he left, I found it odd that he had dropped the car in a different location and it was an odd position where my car lay compared to where his tow truck was parked. I opened the car door to discover that the steering wheel was tied, even though he had informed me that he never once went into the car. I also noticed road tar on the wheels as well as unusual markings of dirt. My car is a race car and is not designed to travel 1200 miles on a wheel lift, which I now realized happened! On Monday I contacted AMY and told her what I had realized. She contacted the driver, whom admitted putting the car on the wheel lift, but for only 25 - 30 miles max. Which I have a difficult time believing because of the front tire wear, road tar, and dirt from a brand new set of tires! Amy did what she could to make the situation right. She refunded $75, but the driver was rude with Amy and said he would do nothing about it because there is nowhere in the contract that says a vehicle can not be hauled on a wheel lift. I would deal with GT Transport again, but I would definitely investigate into the subcontractor that is actually handling my vehicle. !!! BEWARE OF BUYRIGHT ENTERPRISES!!!
