My son recently joined the Airforce and got ihis first permanent duty station in Vandenberg AFB, California. I had told him he could have my car, of course we live in Florida and he got stationed in California. (Thanks USAF) I travel alot with my job and had determined that it wouldn't be feasable to drive the car to him, take time from work to do so, and purchase a plane ticket back home, the cost of all that along with wear and tear on car and myself would be far more than having it shipped. So I got on line and started filling out quote requests to have it shipped (open trailer, best rate etc.) Now, we are not a well-to-do or rich family by any means, so cost is very important to us along with the scheduling of pick-up and delivery. Well after sending out quote requests I was bombarded with e-mails and phone calls....alot of response and various price ranges...some seemed too low and some were very high. One of these response included a link to THIS web site and I started reading reviews...Thanks to this site I learned a lot in a short period of time...along with brokers vs carriers, and reading about some really horrible experiences..I had NEVER had a vehicle shipped before. I ended up choosing Parker Auto Transport LLC as they were a carrier and ratings reviews were excellent and the price was very fair. I called up Parker, spoke with Joanne, she was very nice, straight forward, and up front about everything. She also said that not only were they a carrier, but they were also a broker too. She said they couldn't make the run themselves but she had drivers she would try to contact for me. The cost would be 100 for depost plus 10 percent credit card charge and 950 due to the driver upon delivery. Well I had a bit of an issue with this as I didn't want my son to carry that much cash with him and I didn't know if he had time or the means to get to a bank for a cashiers check. So I asked if I could possibly pay the driver up front with a cashiers check...no problem. (of course I knew this could be risky)
Now the good stuff, I was contacted again by Joanne, she said she had gotten in contact with a driver and a car that was to be shipped cancelled out and he could pick up the car and to my surprise on an enclosed trailer rather than an open one at no additional cost!! Yes!! lets go for it!
I was contated by Golden Key Express and the driver himself...absolutely professional. Now I live in a housling area which consists of only 18 houses and it's just a large circle, one way in and out. I was expecting a basis tracter- trailer type vehicle to arrive, low and behold the biggest rig I 've weve seen shows up !! Virtually all my neighbors, kids, etc. were outside taking pictures and wondering what the heck was happening, why, and how was this guy going to get this rig in and out of here. I have got to tell you, this guy was amaizing, he got that thing in, out, and turned around, the whole neighborhood was impressed and excited as well. Well of course, the next step was to load the car up, the driver, John Williams, was one of the nicest people I've had the pleasure to meet in a long time, the poor guy got bombarded by questions from neighbors, kids, and you know, he took the time to answer each one of them, he even asked me if there was any additional packages or anything I would like him to bring or deliver to my son when he saw him. He got the car to my son in the same condition it left here, he statyed in constant communication with myself and my son, a true professional. I thank Joanne parker,(Parker Auto Transport LLC) John Williams, Golden Key Express for making my first experience with automobile transporting a perfect one and not soon forgotten. I highly recommend any one shipping a vehicle to contact these companies.
