I called other companies before deciding on Hilton. I can't remember the name of the worst one, but it was based in LA and only delivered to LA, and although I scheduled with them to pick up my car I felt uneasy about it. They were distracted on the phone, and i had to repeat things to them several times. They also couldn't guarantee that a truck would get to me before the day I had to leave the state, which was still 4 weeks away.
I called Hilton randomly from a list of transport companies. Their customer service stood out, in that they were sharp, organized and professional. They answered all my questions thoroughly, and after speaking to them i felt confident that my car would be well taken care of.
I called the other company back to cancel my reservation and, not surprisingly, they didn't even have any record of my order! I wish i could remember the name of the company, so i could share it as a warning!
Hilton's representative called me back the following week (5 days later) to let me know they had a truck in the area, and gave me the window of time in which the driver would be contacting me. Everything went just as they said it would. The driver was reliable and reassuring, and he got my car across country in 9 days, which was exactly what i requested. They worked within the restraints of my own schedule, which was wonderful.
Hilton's price was consistent with what other companies charge. They take a $120 brokerage fee, which is charged to your credit card, and the rest of the money is paid directly to the driver, in the form of cash or cashier's check, upon delivery of your vehicle. My driver told me i could give him a personal check when he picked up my car, if I wanted to, but I ended up just paying him cash when he deliverd my car.
Upon arrival, the car was undamaged and in the same condition as when he picked it up from me, other than needing a serious wash from all the road dust that accumulates.
In summary, Hilton auto transport took all the stress out of transporting my car x-country. It was a relif to me and my family. With all the other things to worry about when you're trying to move across country, finding a company that will get your car across safely made the whole ordeal much easier.
I highly reccomend this company, and would use it again if I ever have to move back to the east coast from california, or wherever!
