This company has a lack of customer service and honesty. After being completely unresponsive during the entire transport of my car and damaging it, the company has made zero effort to reach out to me or the broker to resolve my claim. I have filed all necessary documents to them in addition to estimates and have not received any contact.
The truck driver failed to provide accurate information of when he would drop the car off making me take time off multiple instances to come home and wait for the car to be delivered.
Eventually On the day of pick up, Around 5:00PM the truck driver calls me and tells me that he couldn’t get to the house since “there is a sign that says no trucks allowed”. This didn’t make any sense to me since I had my car picked up from my driveway when I shipped the car to Virginia. Regardless, I drove over to the area to meet him. I looked around to see if there were any sign that said, “no trucks allowed”, there were not.
As I began inspecting my vehicle, I began to notice 2 long scratches on the roof of the car from the front to the back (Prior to the truck being loaded in Virginia, I told the driver to be careful of the chains because they were far too close to the roof of the car). However, when I mentioned it to the driver he insisted that it was not a scratch and that it could be cleaned off. After trying to rub it off, he walked away angrily and his coworker who was with him came over to try to explain to me the same thing. As he was doing so, I continued to look around the car and noticed that the bottom side of my rear bumper had a strange indentation into it along with 3 scratches. I showed each of these to them and eventually they tried to tell me that if I were to write the damages on there, that they wouldn’t make any money, and that they were barely making any money as is. I refused to sign the bill of lading without making note of the damages and told him that I will sign it after filling the form out appropriately. However, prior to me signing the form, I asked Michael’s (the driver) coworker to help me drive the car back to my house since I had no one else to drive it.
Upon arrival, the guy kept trying to tell me again that he was barely making any money off of this. He even went as far as to tell me not to write it on the bill of lading and that he would offer me money on the side to have it fixed. At this point I tried to explain to him that this was a legal document and that if I were to sign it without marking any damages, then the liability would be waived. I tried contacting Montway to ensure that I was filling out the form correctly, however since the office was closed I was unable to reach anyone. As I continued to look at my car, the driver’s co-worker kept pushing me to sign it so that he could leave and that he had “other cars to be delivered by 6pm”. As a result I quickly marked on the bill of lading the damages that I noticed at that time and drove him back to the truck.
After washing off my car I began to inspect my car some more. It was there that I noticed that 2 of the plastic attachments below my front bumper were now broken. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the chance to note it on the bill of lading because the drivers co-worker kept aggressively pushing me to sign the form.
