Worst shipping experience I've ever had - I can document all of the following:
- Contract sent was $120 more than agreed to on the phone ("we calculated from the wrong city")
- Multiple calls from broker, trucking co., and driver delaying pick-up from Monday night, into Tuesday, dragging on into Tuesday night,etc...finally late Wed night load. At this point my daughter had to leave for airport and couldn't meet driver.
- Broker was told by us up front that car (Prius) had clothes packed above seats (hard not to do in a Prius), OK'd it, but driver didn't. He added another $150 to bill for overload charge.
- Broker promised Saturday delivery. But Driver took Mem Day holiday weekend off to deliver on Tuesday night!!
- Car arrived with multiple grease stains on upholstery
- Driver said I could have saved $200 by NOT USING A BROKER
- Explained all of this to KOTR...somehow this was all my fault. PLEASE be careful if you have to use these people!

We strive to please every customer and accommodate all of their needs, no matter how challenging the task may be. That is what has earned us a reputation of honesty and excellence in customer service. This is the first complaint we have received in more than 2 years. Looks like, in this case, Mr Lincoln Avery conveniently chose to leave some facts unsaid, misrepresenting our services in a deceiving way. Let's go point by point: When we received his quote request, it had only come with an unclear/erroneous ZIP code. BEFORE booking him, he was made aware of the price increase (giving him the chance to reject the new rate and go with another company) and Mr. Avery accepted the new rate. The dates were pushed by his daughter (pickup contact), as she had a sorority party and could not release the vehicle as agreed upon (unbeknownst to us). Our driver had to keep going with his schedule, pick up the other vehicles on his route and go BACK to get Mr. Averys vehicle. The carrier did get delayed on his way back, which is completely understandable. Had Mr. Averys daughter released the vehicle as agreed on, this issue would have not taken place. This is covered in our agreement (which Mr. Avery signed). It is illegal to ship personal items in the vehicles, as the carriers are not licensed to ship personal/household items and all of our customers are made aware of this. This is clearly disclosed in our agreement (which Mr. Avery signed). However, most carriers will allow about 100lbs in the trunk or below window level so we OK'd that. When the carrier arrived to the location, he found the vehicle packed up to the roof with personal items (including a guitar, a fan, a floor lamp, huge bags filled with clothes and other personal items) and the pick up contact (Mr. Averys daughter) conveniently not present. I guess Mr. Avery and his daughter expected to ship her entire dorm-room inside her Prius and free of charge. Would you like to see the pictures? Click on the link below http://s1312.photobucket.com/user/JMBatista/library/Lincoln%20Avery-Prius The Carrier set the price for the extra weight and was not willing to negotiate, no matter how hard we tried. We contacted Mr. Avery to inform him about this, we even forwarded the pictures the driver sent us, showing proof of the amount of items packed in her car. After that, we tried numerous times to contact Mr. Avery to try and find a resolution, or at least to hear his opinion of the pictures he had received. No call was ever answered or returned. Again, King of the Road did NOT charge anything extra for the shipping of his daughter's items, but rather the carrier did. No dates are EVER guaranteed, especially delivery dates, and especially during a National Holiday. This is also covered in our contract. -The driver said I could have saved $200 by NOT using a Broker. Well, Mr. Avery could have also saved $150 had his daughter not completely packed her car with her dorm-room items. In any case, our broker fee on his move was well below $200 Even though we strongly feel like this review is as ill-intentioned as it is deceiving, we appreciate the feedback and wish Mr. Avery and his daughter the best.
