BAD EXPERIENCES WITH MAGIC CARPET AUTO TRANSPORT

I hired Magic Carpet (MC) to transport my van from Hawaii to Texas. Since I never shipped a vehicle before, I was very concerned and extrememly specific when talking with my client specialist. It took me more than four weeks to finally agree for them to ship my vehicle after reviewing the specifics many times. I realize that there are TERMS AND CONDITIONS, however, when speaking with the specalists, I was assured that my vehicle would arrive within a specific time range. The specialist seemed very knowledgeable about the procedure and number of days required for transport. I expressed the absolute necessity of having my vehicle arrive during the stated time period. They assured me that it would be there, and possibly be earlier than stated.
Well, that never happened! The day that I was scheduled for delivery, I receive an email stating that my van just got picked up from the ship and assigned to a truck. I was supposed to receive delivery today, not have it assigned to a truck! I immediately called MC and spoke to their specialists and finally to the owner, Terry Williams. He made all type of excuses as to why the vehicle did not arrive on time...and for the most part, I believed him. However I explained to him that I am now stuck in the middle of Texas with no vehicle. I asked if his company would pay for a rental until my vehicle comes, and of course he refused. He stated that he has no control over the carrier (Matson) that ships from Hawaii to California. I did express to him that I am not dealing with Matson; Matson is a sub-contractor of Magic Carpet, and if Matson is not holding their end of the bargain, then it would be best for him to switch carriers. The other thing that I hated about this experience is that I had to PAY IN FULL UPFRONT; so now, no matter what happens, they have my money and I'm stuck!
The story doesn't end there...during my phone converstaion with the owner, he tells me that its only a 2-3 day drive from California to Texas, and that my vehicle would probably arrive a day or two early. He would call the carrier and see if they could deliver my vehcle first, and he would have his assistant call me back. Well, nedless to say, after meany hours, no one called me back and I called MC. They stated that they could not reach the carrier.
I waited for the day of deivery according to their email. All of this time, I am stuck with no transportation (6 days). On the morning of the new scheduled delivery date, I contact MC to attempt to get a delivery time. They could not give me one. I asked if the delivery was still scheduled for that day, and they replied 'yes'. After waiting many hours, I called MC again to confirm that my vehicle was going to be delivered today. They assured me that it would. I asked them if the carrier would contact me, they said that he would contact me about two hours before he is scheduled to arrive. So I'm standing by the phone waiting for the carrier to call. It is now late in the evening (8:00PM) and I call MC again to get a status. I give my name and info to the specialist and she stated that she would find out what's going n and call me back. Again, I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK!
In our initial converstation, the owner claimed that he had no control over the carrier from Hawaii to California. But now its a land carrier problem...does he have control over that? Here I am now, still in Texas and still walking because my vehicle has not yet arrived!
IT SEEMS THAT THIS COMPANY HAS NO CONTROL OVER ANYTHING...THERE'S A LOT OF EXCUSES, NO ONE CALLS YOU BACK WITH INFORMATION, NO ONE KNOWS ANYTHING!!! FOR ALL I KNOW, MY VEHICLE WENT OVERBOARD SOMWHERE IN THE PACIFIC OCEAN, BECAUSE NO ONE CAN GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION ON WHERE THE CARRIER IS, WHERE MY VEHICLE IS, AND WHEN (IF EVER) IT WOULD BE DELIVERED. AND, THEY'VE GOT MY MONEY UPFRONT!
DO NOT USE THIS CARRIER!!!!!!!! SOME SAY THEY WERE A LITTLE CHEAPER THAN OTHERS, BUT THERE'S A REASON FOR IT... YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!! THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE A PART OF THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREA (BBB)...THEIR BUSINESS IS NOT 'BETTER', IT'S WORST! DON'T GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR MONEY, YOU MAY NOT GET YOUR CAR!!! AND IF YOU DO GET IT, IT PROBABLY WON'T BE ON TIME!! I WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM IF THEY WERE TO COMPENSATE ME FOR THE INCONVINIENCE, BUT THEY DON'T TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY, THEY COULD CARE LESS!!!! I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ON A PLANE NOW TO FINISH MY BUSINESS, BUT I HAD TO CANCEL MY FLIGHT BECAUSE MY VEHICLE NEVER ARRIVED AND I DON'T KNOW HOW LING I'LL HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT...ITS MORE THAN SIX (6) DAYS LATE!!! THIS IS DEFINITELY ONE OF THE WORST EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE!!!
