Below Expectations

All in all, the car arrived in good shape, but the service was far below my expectations. The cost came in 20% higher than the estimate.

I picked this company because of 1) the high ratings on this web site; 2) their estimate was in line with others; 3) the answers I got when I called them to ask about how their service worked.

I was told a driver would be assigned 2 weeks before 1st date of pickup. I called twice a week after that, including after the first pick-up date, and was always told "we're having a hard time & working really hard to find a driver". Nicole never called me. Finally a driver was found, but only if it could be picked up with 30 minutes notice. This was after I had already moved, so my neighbor agreed to handle the pickup for me.

This was supposed to be door-to-0oor service, but the closest to either door was 7 miles. The driver refused to come closer to our pick-up house than 7 miles and made our neighbor pick him up and drive him to the house to get the car.

On he delivery end, he was early and wanted to meet at 8am, before I could get to the bank to get his check. We eventually settled on meeting later in the morning, but this time, he would not come to our house and instead met us about 30 minutes away. I wouldn't have minded not having door-to-door, but was not happy that I paid for door-to-door and didn't get it.

The driver also was "encouraging" me to pay cash (vs. certified check or postal money order). Cash was certainly one of the options I knew about, but his unwillingness to take the care closer to my house and the "please pay cash" just made the whole thing seem a little bit "under the table". I gave him a certified check.
