I'll state upfront the most important thing is that I got my car transported in working condition.

The details were a bit more stressful than I would have hoped. I called two weeks prior to when my vehicle would be ready to ship and got several quotes. I went with Magic Carpet Auto Transport in part due to the number of positive reviews. They were not the cheapest, but were willing to match other quotes. Unfortunately, in the end this didn't mean a whole lot.

After 10 days of hearing nothing, I called to find out if there was any luck finding a carrier. After a little bit of back and forth, I learned the following day that a carrier would be willing to do the job, but only for an additional fee beyond what I was quoted. It wasn't that bad, so I agreed.

The actual carrier (Carriage Auto Carrier) was supposed to pick up on a Monday and deliver the following week. The driver shows up on a Sunday and tells me that he's going to be at my destination by Wednesday or Thursday of that week which is a problem as I wouldn't be at my destination until that Saturday. If someone wasn't there to accept delivery, my car would go to a storage facility, and I would be forced to go and pick it up. Luckily, I found someone to take delivery (and pay by credit card ahead of time - which was kind of scary but turned out not to be a problem).

I liked to driver who transported my vehicle. He called ahead of time to let me know when he was arriving (even if it was a day early) and let my destination contact know when he'd be arriving. There were no issues with pickup or delivery.

Looking back, I was probably a bit more worried than I needed to be. This process at times feels fly-by-night, but I was charged what I ultimately agreed to and my car arrived in pretty much the same condition I left it (just dirtier - which was to be expected with an open carrier).
