First time having a car transported

I was recently in the market for buying a used car but was very particular about the model, color, mileage, condition, and transmission which meant I had to expand my searches nationwide. I was finally able to find the car but it was over 2000miles away which meant I had to consider having it shipped after I purchased it. I had not had any experience doing this but luckily the seller I bought the vehicle from had and he actually had the vehicle shipped when he purchased the car himself.

He had recommended Magic Carpet because of his past experience and simply said they were the best. He didn't pressure me to use them and just told me to look on transportreviews.com to see for myself. Sure enough after only reading a few reviews I was convinced and went ahead to get a quote. Along with the quote came several other competitors’ quotes.

Before hearing of magic carpet and talking to the seller I did my own preliminary search to get a quote to compare costs to flying and driving back and all the quotes I received were well over $1000, some as much as $1250. Magic carpet and the closest competitors were able to do much better. Under $1000 was my goal.

I only received one quote from the competitor less than magic carpet and read that magic carpet offers the price match guarantee from a 4-5star reviewed competitor. When I called to inquire about the price match process they basically took my word for it w/o having to forward them the e-mail. I appreciate the fact that they trusted me and didn't think I was just trying to bargain (it was also only about a $50 difference and not a few hundred or anything). Also they took my request to have the vehicle loaded on top of the trailer which I was told to do by the seller.

Once I was booked the transport and set a pick up date the process was smooth from then on. They were able to book a truck for pick up on the earliest day I requested (waiting for payment to clear on the vehicle) which was a week after I had booked. The booking did end up costing an additional $80 in order to have it picked up that early but I was assured it would be worth it.

I did end up having to reschedule the pick up because the payment hadn’t cleared by the original pick up date. They were able to reschedule another truck within the next two days to allow more time for the check to get to the bank. Casey was very cooperative throughout the situation and handled the issue well. He understood the problem and did his best to make it work. He was very flexible and accommodating and assured me everything would work out. Luckily the payment cleared in time and the rescheduled pick up went well. My card was charged the deposit on pick up as promised.

A week later the car arrived with calls from Casey and the driver when the truck was close to my house for drop up. This gave me time to prepare to leave work and gave me plenty of notice. The car arrived safely just I had suspected with no major surprises. The insurance they offer on the vehicle (up to $50k I believe) definitely made things easier waiting for the car to arrive. The car was loaded on top just as I had requested. I paid the driver with a bank check and everything was all set.

Overall I would recommend magic carpet for their customer service, competitive pricing, and reliability. If I were to ship a car again, which I plan to do later on this summer but enclosed and across country, I would easily choose Magic Carpet from the good experience I’ve had with them. Every time I called magic carpet I was able to reach Casey or another person to help me even when I called close to closing time.
