The reason I went with Magic Carpet was because of their superior reviews and the agent's "up front" honesty regarding the nature of the business and her ability to make me feel at ease as a first time vehicle shipper. Although I did have only a two day window for the pickup, I was assured repeatedly that my SUV would likely be picked up at the prenegotialted price of $1100 in the greater Columbia SC area. Ultimately, a driver was never contracted at the time I left Columbia and I had to leave my vehicle with friends until one could be contracted. Additionally, dialogue between myself and the agent was quite good leading up until the time my Magic Auto was contracted. Holly stated she would constantly keep me notified every couple of days by either phone or email, but I was disappointed when I found that I would not hear from her unless I initiated contact first inquiring status updates. Long story short, my wife's car was delivered using a driver that we contracted using one of Magic Carpet's sister companies. I explained to him the difficulty I was experiencing in getting my SUV shipped. At that time, we made a deal that he would pick up and deliver my SUV for $1300. The driver contacted my agent to get the details and the rest is history.

Here's where I have heartburn with my experience with Magic Carpet:
1. I wasn't advised at how difficult it is to move an SUV until after the pickup window was missed. SUVs take up more room on the trailer; therefore, the driver potentially loses money because he can't carry as many cars.
2. The agent for my wife's car was constantly on the in contact with her. I expressed earlier in this email that my level of expectation in this area wasn't quite met.
3. The agent still charged me her fee even though I found the driver and I negotiated the price, which was exactly what I had hired her to do. All I got was email strings full of apologies regarding how long this whole process was taking. At least they felt sincere, though...
The coup de grace: At some point after I had arrived in California and my vehicle was still in SC, the agent is asking me whether or not my vehicle had been picked up by the driver. My response: why are you asking me???

HOLLY 360-553-4232 or holly@magiccarpetautotransport.com.....Aaron, thank you for leaving some feedback for me. I apologize for the delay in finding a carrier...Sometimes it doesn't happen the way we anticipate as this business is based on a bidding system and we contract with our drivers. We have no control over their schedules. I tried to keep in touch with you every step of the way and when the driver was assigned, he was communicating directly as well...I deducted $90 from me fee to help get the vehicle moved for you. Also, you received a call from me asking about pick up because I couldn't reach the pick up customer and assumed he would have called you to let you know...Just covering my bases :) I know it became frustrating toward the end and I take your concerns very seriously. I'm sure we'll talk again soon but until then, Take care!
