This broker booked a trucking company to pick up my motorcycle and assured me that my shipment was covered by truckers insurance. They went on about the benifits of using Magic Carpet, saying they do all the checking for you. It turned out through my own investigation that the trucker was not insured to haul motorcycles. Meanwhile, my bike had been loaded and going down the road. I called Magic Carpet and the driver. The driver was willing to bring it back to pick up point, but the people had left and would be gone the rest of the day. Terry at Magic Carpet basically said "don't worry about it, less than one half of one percent of shipments ever have damage claims". I explained that having insurance offers peace of mind and I was told by Magic Carpet that my shipment was covered. They didn't even bother to check what kind of insurance the trucking company had. That left me having to scramble around at the last minute to find and buy full coverage insurance. Then when the bike arrived today, the trucker was expecting more money than what I was told (by Magic Carpet) that I'd pay driver. Driver had two people at Magic Carpet, one on my cell phone and one on his, each telling him two different amounts for me to pay. This was a totally frustrating experience that ended up costing me more grief and money than anyone should have to endure. I don't blame the trucking company in the least. It was this broker who had the resonsibility and totally messed up. This broker has an attitude problem as well. Do not use.....EVER.

UPDATE - Posted 5/8/2008 2:12:00 AM

Earlier today I posted a negative review on this company because they booked a truck to transport my motorcycle. They stated to me the trucking company had insurance. Through my own investigation I found they did, but their policy did NOT cover motorcycles. I have the email from LISA SAYLES from ISG in Oak Ridge TN on my computer. When I found out, I called the driver and he was willing to take the bike back to it's pick up location, but the people had left for the day and the bike would be left unsecured if it were dropped off. I had no choice but to let the driver carry it through. I had to purchase my own FULL coverage insurance in case of a mishap.
I spoke with several people at Magic Carpet including Terry, the so called owner. He tried to assure me that only one half of one percent of shipments ever have damage claims. I explained that peace of mind is what I need when transporting my motorcycle. When the bike arrived today, the driver said I owed him more than what MCAT told me I needed to pay the driver. I had my paperwork in hand and showed it to him, he then showed me his. Indeed his was $25.00 more. I called MCAT and as they were telling me I was correct, the driver said he was being told his was correct. I handed him my phone so he could speak to the person saying my amount was correct. This whole experience was topped off at 11:36pm (5-7-08) with a phone call from Terry threatening me with a law suit for slander because of the review I posted. I simply told the absolute truth and have no reason to lie. And Terry...yes, I can back up what I say with plenty of witnesses. Get an attitude adjustment ....will ya?

Of all of the clients we have ever shipped for, ( over ten thousnad clients) we have never had such an annoying, untruthful, unappreciative, arrogant and ignorant client. This client litterly called our office 27 times over a three day period about getting his bike picked up. Jim either can't read or chose not to read the terms and conditions that we ship under. Like all clients who have a complaint they usually find it's covered in our terms and conditions. We actually found some one to move his bike ACROSS COUNTRY FOR $450 total in very short order. Like EVERY SINGLE ONE OF OUR SHIPMENTS we called the carriers insurance company. The insurance company verified the trucking company's cargo insurance as being in force. We were already a certificate holder as this was a carrier we have used many times. When we found out this carriers cargo insurance didn't cover bikes we were shocked. In all the years we have been doing this we have never heard of a cargo policy that singled out motorbikes as not being covered cargo, go figure? We immediately called the trucking company and they were as shocked as we were. THEY DID THE RIGHT THING. They called the client and told him they would turn around and bring the bike back and this client said no, go ahead and bring it. The trucking company also assured me they would be FULLY RESPONSIBLE for any damage, if any occured during the trip. The truck bought some kind of straps for the bike for extra security of the bike and that's where the extra 25$ was. I told the truck NOT to charge the client for straps, to go ahead and bill us. Which they did. Here's the rub for us. This clients bike arrived in a very timely manner with absolutely no damage, even for a nervous little guy like Jim who called our offices over 100 times from the time they placed the order till the bike got to him. Jim do us a favor... Next time you need some thing shipped call our competitors. We did a good job, covered all of our bases and got your bike to you safely, with no damage. You need to be more honest, probably in all aspects of your life.
