This is the first time I've ever shipped a vehicle, and now that I've done it, I wish I had been smart enough to transport an auto this way before. I requested a quote online and received over 20 - ranging from $325 to $1,250. Eventually, I figured out that quotes were not the final price, but an estimate that could change depending on the type and size of the vehicle. Most online quotes give a basic price for a sedan. I was shipping a 4wd pickup truck that had a camper - features that increase the price. I read numerous reviews to help decide which company to go with, and as soon as I thought I had made up my mind, I would see a negative review that caused me to doubt myself. Finally, I decided to start calling and make up my own mind based on the customer service. My conversations with the first few companies left something to be desired. I quickly realized that I needed to find an agent who could clearly communicate, since that would be who would be communicating with the driver. After speaking with 6 people at 6 companies, I found Kathy who was knowledgeable, was able to speak openly, clearly and intelligently, and who was generally a pleasure to talk to. It was because of her that I decided to go with Magic Carpet. Less than 2 hours after I placed the order, Wheelys Auto Transport called to say they were on the way to pick up the truck. That was simply amazing to me. Since the destination was in far northern California, very much off the beaten path, I expected it to take days or even weeks to find a driver. If I could give 10 stars to the trucking company, I certainly would. They called before they arrived to pick up the car, the guys were very professional and pleasant to deal with, their truck was nice - it just felt good in every way to trust them with our truck. Kathy and the truck drivers kept in touch with us the entire time. Less than 2 days later, when quotes were still coming to me by email, the truck had already been delivered. I watched the drivers unload 2 other cars to get to unload ours, and it was clear to me that they handled each vehicle with equally good care. My experience with Magic Carpet could not have been more positive, but I think who the trucker ends up being makes all the difference. That part might just come down to pure luck - and we could not have been luckier. I would recommend Magic Carpet, and specifically Kathy, to anyone looking to transport a vehicle.
