This was not my first time shipping a car back and forth from the continental US to Hawaii. BUT, this was the first time shipping a brand new vehicle. I was very apprehensive prior to shipping and wanted to research as much as I could. I read multiple reviews and was wary of the "incentive to leave 5 star reviews" that I kept reading about. It is true, I received an email offering me a chance to win a refund of my shipping cost if I left a positive review on this site. I want this review to be honest and transparent for future potential customers. I debated between open versus closed carriers. I went with an open carrier given the following: limited availability for closed carriers, additional cost of closed carriers. Transport went fine. The truck had to be driven from Texas to California and then loaded onto a boat out to Hawaii. The truck driver was extremely pleasant and I received a courtesy call ahead of pickup asking a time that would be convenient for me to drop the truck off. He inspected the vehicle and also sent me a confirmation email when the truck was delivered to the port. After the truck was loaded onto the boat, I received tracking info from the shipping company (Matson) as to when my vehicle would be ready for pickup. I became available 5 days ahead of the estimated arrival. The truck was not damaged in any way. It was dirty on the outside (which is to be expected). It did have some sort of oil on the outside which was difficult to remove, but the paint was not damaged (it appeared as though something had splashed on the truck while on the boat). The truck had been driven about 2 miles, but this is exactly what was explained to me ahead of time (this is a distance driven at the port). Regarding Magic Carpet, Sue Garrison explained everything up front, reassured me and set a price which was exactly what I ended up paying. She based the price off of recent shipments from Texas to California. I was very pleased overall with the entire process and would recommend this company!
