I'm a control freak. I like things my way and I get testy when I don't get them. So when I needed to move my vintage '56 Thunderbird and my father's '97 Chevy Silverado across the country, I was worried that no one would do things as well as I needed them done.
Boy, was I wrong.
Although things got off to a rocky start on my quote because of a new and inexperienced member of the Magic Carpet family, once I spoke to Kathy (the manager), everything was like cake, in spite of several disasters, natural and otherwise!
I was in a frenzy when I first spoke to Kathy, and she talked me off the ledge (the first of several times), gave me a quote that was $100 less than the other company I called, and made that quote stick to the very penny. Her infinite patience, and that of the company's owner, in answering my zillion stupid, picky questions made it much easier to sleep in the middle of the most stressful move of my life.
The driver MC got me called to say he could actually come early if I wanted, and I happily said yes - one less thing to hang over my head! He got there on time, only to find out that the T-Bird had been parked so long that it wouldn't roll - ARGH! Although he could have left, the driver patiently stayed and helped figure out how to load the obstreperous vehicle by tow truck from AAA, all in the middle of a sudden rainstorm that soaked us. He was a real trooper and a pro through and through. When it came time for delivery, he got both vehicles to their third-party destination safe and sound, and a whole weekend early...
They say that if you want a job done right, do it yourself, but I couldn't have done a job half this good, and neither, I suspect, could 99% of the other transport companies out there. They also say that you get what you pay for - Well, I can tell you that paying Magic Carpet is a bloody BARGAIN. You can pay more and get a lot less, I assure you, and with Kathy watching over your move, you're safe as houses. If I ever need to move another vehicle, I won't even comparison shop.
If they can please me, they can please you.
