To be quite honest, judging from my experience with Magic Carpet and their "5 star rating" and how completely different my experience was, either the company said, "Hey, let's just change out of character for this one customer and give him 1 star service but then let's go back to giving everyone else 5 star service" or . . . maybe, just maybe, employees from Magic Carpet post their own 5 star reviews. Hmmm. Yep, much more likely.
Magic carpet will say..."it will take X amount of days for us to get a carrier, but hey, it's just an ESTIMATE! That's their key word because they really have absolutely no clue- it could take up to a month! (Sure, if they're off by a week or two, don't worry about it, just rent a car. So what if you had just gone with a higher bidder your car would already have been picked up and delivered, but then again, they're 5 stars!)
They have great communication!!! You're lucky to get a phone call! And if you actually call and leave a message with the voice mail, you're completely screwed because your rep will then say, "Oh, I'm sorry, you have to leave a message with my extension." Okay, thanks for e-mailing it to me, informing me of this situation, or at least taking responsibility for the fact that a company should be able to have an answering system in which the company reps actually get the phone messages. But Stephanie was right, it was my fault.
So, in a nutshell, don't go with any carrier that tells you, well, um, here's an estimate. Pay a little more and go with an actual broker or if it is a carrier, let them know that you need a date...believe it or not, a good carrier can call around to his truckers and know approximately what day they can pick up a car. Magic carpet and the others, they're just a bunch of gamblers. They are just praying that there is some trucker desperate enough to take your car for a really low price.
I found another carrier, he got back to me that day and told me, okay, such and such day next week, and boom, it was done. No need to say, well, let's see, 8 business days, starting from the first of the month but only on odd months, etc.
