Company misrepresented their services, did not state key conditions in phone conversation, and used dishonest sales practices. Anyone considering moving a vehicle would be better off calling transportation companies directly or subscribing to Centraldispatch.com.
BACKGROUND: 1. 15 Jun ~1300HRS - I spoke with Mayflower sales rep, Anthony, about shipping my vehicle, initial quote provided was $1050 total cost. However, I was unsure of what the conditions were, therefore he recommended I fill out an inquiry form online in which one provides their request, i.e., shipping date request, vehicle details, destination poc info, etc. I did so, and 15 minutes later he called me and told me he felt bad, that Mayflower was not like the other companies, so he was going to be upfront with me and tell me the quote had changed, it was going to be $1150. At this point there was no discussion of broker's fee and because the price had just jumped in 15 minutes from $1050 to 1150 AND I was at work I told him I would call back when I got home from work.
2. Upon my arrival home I discovered that Anthony had used the contact info provided in the inquiry online form to call my wife who was unfamiliar with any of my conversations with Mayflower. The contact info was the number of the person who would be able to take delivery of the vehicle at the arrival destination. That is the only reason my wife's number was listed, in could have been a friend, or another family member.
This is a classless business, one that is sure to reincorporate in the near future. I recommend you contact Alan West or your Representative as I did.
Total cost to ship vehicle was $1350 (including their "deposit/broker fee" of $175. Mike refused cancel dispatch and refund the $175 less than 2 hours after charging my credit card based on speaking to my wife.
