Who are you working for? Me? or the Driver?

When I made a deal with Mercury Auto Transport, to ship my vehicle from Whidbey Island, Washington, to Melbourne, Florida, the price was set at $750 all inclusive. I understand that trucking companies negotiate prices and I did speak with someone from Mercury, (I don't remember his name) who asked me if he could increase the total by $25 if it was necessary to get a driver. I told him that it was OK to negotiate in increments of $25 up to a total of $900, then, almost immediately, he had booked a driver. While the negotiator did not go outside the paramators that I had set, I felt like he had simply threw up the $900 without any negotiation. When I called Customer Support and queried them about it, they were able to re-negotiate and recover $25 for me.

The reason I felt this price was so high, was because, Charley Steeves sent me a listing of jobs which had already been negotiated and were traveling to the same area of the country, some of them were full sized SUV's and Jeep Wagons weighing thousands of pounds, for equal or less money then it cost me to ship my vehicle, which is a 250CC Honda Helix Scooter with a side car, which weighs no more then 500 pounds total and takes up far less space then an SUV.

I am not ordinarily of a complaining nature, but I felt as if the Mercury negotiator was in so much of a hurry to complete a contract, that he forgot who he was working for and threw me to the wolves in favor of an early culmination of the deal.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.
