I consider myself a "car guy" and subscribe to various car and national sales magazines. I had never shipped a car before and so got many estimates using the transport ads in the monthly car buying magazine that rhymnes with Flemmings. Most did not or could not provide transport from Florida to South Carolina or their quotes were over $1,000. It is my opinion that there seems to be two types of transport companies. The first is the private guy who owns a truck and does all the work himself. While these guys generally called me back, none were able to help me. The other type of transporter seems to be a broker between a customer like me and a trucker. Many of these transport companies get a bad rating not becasue they are bad but becasue they must rely on the integrity and work ethic of the trucker who contract with them. Therefore, don't always go by negative ratings becasue it might be that the trucker him/her self might be to blame.
Now to give you the information on Montway. When bidding on Ebay you can ask for shipping quotes and a few will appear. This can be done before an auction completes so you'll know how much it will cost or you can get one, as I did, after the auction. Montway was the only one who called me back! I did a Google search on Montway and was pleased to see a Better Business Beureau rating of "A". I was disappointed that Angie's List, although having a listiing, didn't have a link available for a rating. After my itiial contact with Montway I hadn't heard anything from them but lo 'n behold I received a call on the fourth day telling me they still couldn't find a trucker. Let me add that when I was calling companies for estimates, over and over again I was told that most trucks were being used to transport snowbirds from Florida back to the Northeast and there just wasn't anything available. So Montways problem fell right into that. Montway called me 7 days after my initial contact to tell me the car would be picked up the very next day and delivered two days later. Their trucker, Raul Larroza, was exceptional and contacted me three times before and during the transport.He even delivered the car at the time I requested (so my wife wouldn't see it come in. Don't ask! LOL)
I can't speak for other person's experience with Montway but I would use them again and recommend them to a friend!
