Driver drove my car to get pizza...

I booked my car to be shipped from St. Louis, MO to Los Angeles, CA with Montway Auto Transport. Montway connected me to the carrier White Arrow Auto Transport and my car was picked up by the driver Ionel T. On the pickup date, Ionel called stating he was at the pickup location earlier than expected and I stated I was 20 minutes away. When I arrived, the carrier truck was on the street but the driver and my car were not present. After 10 minutes, I see my car making a left turn onto the street with Ionel in the driver seat. When he got out of the car, he handed me my keys and held a pizza box in the other hand. He was unapologetic for driving because he said it would be the same as if he parked the carrier truck at the pizza place and drove my car to the pickup location. I called Montway and they stated they could 1) give me a $50 gift certificate (I would never use it) or 2) file a claim (but there is no external damage to the car). Be careful other first-time car shippers of what these companies are doing with your car in transit.

We have contacted both the customer and carrier to resolve this matter and refunded our broker fee for the inconvenience. All carriers we work with are fully vetted by our in-house carrier compliance team as we ensure all our carriers are properly licensed, insured and equipped to transport and deliver vehicles safe and sound.
